Culver General Discussion / Fabric work
« on: November 18, 2017, 04:42:33 PM »
  Hi Everyone,
We have been working at a steady pace on the fabric work on the Culver.  Life sometimes gets in the way but we continue on. We are finished with everything but the fuselage. That is starting this next week.  I still have a bulkhead to place and install. When that is finished, we will start the assembly.  Spring time is looking really good right now!  Keep at it as it has taken me several years to get to this point!

Parts For Sale / Back again!
« on: October 26, 2016, 03:27:33 PM »
Hello everyone,
I'm back working on my Culver and I really need a set of plans or at least the tail section of the fuselage!  Any help would sure be appreciated!  I'm willing to pay if cost is a problem.
My wings are ready for fabric and a little work on the tail section of the fuselage will complete the fuselage. Then I am ready to start putting it back together.

Culver General Discussion / New old project
« on: March 06, 2016, 05:20:56 PM »
Hello everyone,
I'm way behind with this project after two years of work on a Mooney Mite that is now finished.
I'm looking for plans of the Culver.  My wings are done and ready to cover.  The fuselage is not finished but I'm wanting to get to work on it.  Sometime this month I will bring it back to my place to start back on it.  I have a restored and blueprinted Franklin 90 hp motor waiting to be mounted.
Anyone have a set of plans they don't need or are finished with? Thanks for your help! Woody

Culver General Discussion / My Culver project
« on: June 09, 2015, 04:23:48 PM »
Boy time passes!  I'm almost finished with the Mooney Mite that I'm doing for the wounded warriors called "Freedom Fund".  I've had a few prods about not working on the Culver project!
Time now for me to focus on another project which is either the Sonerai 2 which is about 90% done or do I start back on the Culver?  They are BOTH pulling on me! As I'm getting older, I don't want to work like I used to so I have a top notch A&P/IA to take the lead.
The Culver has most of the wood work done except the lower cowling and a few small repairs. I have a 0 time 90HP Franklin engine and mount for it.
The Sonerai could be finished and sold to promote faster finishing of the Culver, or I could work on the Culver and let the Sonerai sit.  I must make a decision soon.
Things seem quiet on here so it's time to kick things in gear and start something even if it's wrong.
I'm glad to be back to see what's happening.  Woody

Modifications / Changes or add on's to the Franklin 90hp engine
« on: February 06, 2013, 12:38:36 PM »
Scuttlebutt is there is a lightweight starter from Sky tech (now defunct) that will fit the Franklin 90.  Southern Aero (Robert Still) knows about them and where one might purchase.  Several pounds can be saved with the change over.  Also there is a conversion to change the heavy Eisemamn mags out.  That plus an alternator should shave 15 or more pounds off the engine.  Check it out.   ::)

Culver General Discussion / Franklin engine and prop
« on: October 02, 2012, 10:03:25 PM »
I'm not sure I understand that the Franklin engine can only use certain props, if that is true.   I have a biplane that I will use a Franklin 90 on, so ~~~ will I have to stay in the limits of say 70x54 or can I use any prop that has the same mounting configuring on it and does it have to be wood?   Thanks

Interesting note:  Tearing seat back out for rebuilding I noticed a tag that states~~
PARATEX trademark,  Blocksom and Co.
Michican City, Indiana -- Acme Awning, serial #100
This was attached to the inside back under the horsehair.

Culver General Discussion / I fly GPS moving map
« on: May 10, 2012, 10:37:33 PM »
need info on the I Fly 700 GPS.  Anyone know anything about these?  I see them for sale slightly used and was wondering if there was something that was lacking with them?  It appears to have most everything that the much more expensive units have and are less expensive also.

Parts Wanted / mags
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:37:46 PM »
Does anyone know the # or type of mags that fit the 90 Franklin?
Does the Eisemann AM-4, Slick 4392, BendixS4RN-20/21  work?  What about the gears?  Will one set of gears work on all the mags?  I'm lost!
