: Elevator push rod support tube
: Keith U. April 20, 2013, 04:47:47 PM
While cleaning out the old graphite, lube, and crud from the inside of the elevator push rod tube that is clamped into the center fuselage of  my Culver, the tubed cracked and is very brittle.  Anyone know what this is made of? It seems like some type of phenolic tube.  Has any one  replaced this with pvc or a modern material?

I also thought phenolic to begin with but mine  has no fabric in it.

I think it was a form of bakalite or melmane.   Not sure about that yet.

Never could find a replacement solution.  I ended up cleaning up the broken end, which reduced the length about 2 inches and re-installed it.  It appears that there may have been some "manufacturing variance" and the exact length is not critical.  Thanks for your help.
